NKU Students Get Brilliant Results at 2023 RoboCup Online Challenge

        The 2023 RoboCup has come to a complete conclusion in Bordeaux, France. Two undergraduate teams from Nankai University performed outstandingly in the final, winning the online challenge championship and the Best Paper award (the only winner).

 

 

        The two teams of Nankai University were both led by Li Wenyu from Professor Duan Feng’s Lab of NKU College of Artificial Intelligence. The Team NK Lumos, consisting of six undergraduate students, Shi Ruochuan, Qiao Yi, Guo Fengrui, Sun Can, Zhao Yinqi, and Sun Jiawen, won the Online Challenge championship for the Open Platform Group, and the Team NK Core, consisting of five students, Chai Ying, Wang Qiang, Cheng Junjie, Jiang Yushan, and Cao Shicheng, won the second runner-up in the event and the Best Paper award.

The Nankai University has actively participated in the games of RoboCup@Home since 2013. Professor Duan Feng’s team from the College of Artificial Intelligence, by adhering to the development concept of internationalization of scientific research and industrialization of scientific research results, has been pressing ahead for the past decade, granting generous support to undergraduate and graduate students to participate in relevant competitions, and cultivating a group of outstanding talents with international perspectives and practical abilities, who have won awards such as regional championships in RoboCup multiple times. In the competition this year, NKU students competed bravely, performed beyond their limits, and won the world championship, and achieved a new breakthrough as Team China in the global finals.

        RoboCup, an international robot competition and AI technology development platform, is aimed at propelling research and development in the field of robotics and AI. The RoboCup world competitions are considered the professional robot race featuring greatest influence, highest comprehensive technical level, and widest participation in this field. RoboCup@Home events focus on AI and human-machine interaction and are organized based on the application of future robots in home services, in order to achieve high-level human-machine interactions and practical applications of service robots.
